Sustainable flexible packaging replaces conventional multi-layer laminates with materials designed for recovery at end of life — mono-material structures that fit existing recycling streams, certified compostable films, bio-based polymers, and laminates carrying post-consumer recycled content. For hygiene and medical products, the challenge is meeting barrier and seal requirements without the mixed-polymer structures that make packaging unrecyclable.
Tansox manufactures across all of these material families in-house in Quanzhou. Whether the requirement is an all-PE structure for kerbside recycling, an EN 13432 compostable film, or 30-50% PCR content in a standard laminate, the same printing, lamination and converting lines produce it. Tansox produces recyclable mono-material structures (all-PE, all-PP, all-PET), certified compostable films, biodegradable PLA and PBS laminates, kraft paper laminates with FSC options, and standard structures with 30-50% post-consumer recycled content. All are available across our stand-up pouch, zipper bag, flat-bottom, side-gusset and rollstock formats.
Recyclable packaging is designed to be collected and reprocessed into new material — for flexible packaging this usually means a mono-material structure. Biodegradable packaging breaks down through biological activity, but without a defined timeframe or end condition. Compostable packaging is biodegradable to a certified standard within a specified time and environment, either industrial (EN 13432, ASTM D6400) or home compostable. Compostable is the narrowest and most tightly defined of the three.
For most hygiene applications, yes. All-PE and all-PP mono-material structures now match conventional laminates on moisture barrier and seal strength for diaper, wipes and pad packaging. Very high barrier applications — sterile medical packaging, long shelf-life foil structures — still generally require a mixed-material laminate. Send us your barrier spec and we will confirm what is achievable.
10,000 units per SKU for custom-printed bags, the same as our standard lines. Rollstock film is quoted by weight. Some certified compostable and PCR films carry longer lead times or higher minimums depending on material availability — confirm with our sales team.
