Finish Specification
Finish type, coverage (full or spot), substrate compatibility and structural requirements are confirmed at the design stage. Artwork is checked for registration requirements if spot finish is selected.
In-house special surface finishes for flexible packaging — soft touch, matte lamination, spot UV, hot stamp, 3D emboss and aluminized available in full or spot coverage, FOB Xiamen.
Special surface finishes are applied to flexible packaging after printing and lamination to add tactile texture, visual contrast and premium shelf appeal. Tansox applies six special finishes in-house at Quanzhou — soft touch, matte lamination, spot UV, hot stamp, 3D emboss and aluminized — in full or spot coverage, allowing brand owners to create tactile contrast, metallic accents and premium shelf presence on flexible packaging formats without outsourcing to a third-party finishing converter.
From finish specification to inspected, finished packaging — every order runs through the same four-stage workflow at Quanzhou.
Finish type, coverage (full or spot), substrate compatibility and structural requirements are confirmed at the design stage. Artwork is checked for registration requirements if spot finish is selected.
The printed and laminated substrate surface is prepared for finish adhesion — corona treatment, cleaning or primer application as required by the finish type and substrate.
The selected finish is applied in-line: coating, lamination, UV curing or foil stamping as appropriate. Full-coverage finishes run roll-to-roll; spot finishes use registered tooling for accurate placement.
Finished packaging is inspected for finish coverage uniformity, adhesion, registration and visual quality under standard lighting conditions. Approval samples are produced before the full production run.
The table below covers our standard in-house finishing options. Share your packaging format, finish type and coverage and we'll confirm feasibility.

Soft touch is a tactile coating that creates a velvety surface feel with a silky, low-gloss appearance — it reduces gloss and adds a distinctive hand-feel that differentiates premium packaging on shelf. Matte lamination is a matte film bonded over the print surface, reducing gloss but without the same tactile texture as soft touch. Both are available in full coverage at Tansox.
Yes — combining soft touch (or matte) as a full-coverage base with registered spot UV is one of the most popular premium finish combinations for hygiene and health packaging. The soft touch base creates a matte, velvety surface; the spot UV then adds high-gloss visual contrast on selective design elements such as logos, icons or pattern areas. Confirm the design intent with our sales team at artwork submission.
Yes — hot stamp and 3D emboss both require custom tooling (stamping die and emboss die respectively) cut to the specific shape and size of the finish area on the design. Tooling is a one-time cost amortised across the production run and is typically retained for repeat orders. The tooling cost and amortisation schedule are included in the initial quotation.
